A glimpse of Stone Church history....
There have been a total of 38 Pastors of the Stone Church starting in 1889. These Pastors carefully watched over the returning flock to Independence, Missouri of the Latter Day Saints those of whom had reorganized and incorporated in 1858.
Joseph Smith III, son of Joseph Smith, Jr. was named Prophet and President of the RLDS Church in 1860. As they returned starting in 1873, the Latter Day Saints built the Red Brick Church not realizing how many Saints would immediately return back to Independence. Thus, the Stone Church was built.
